My name is Anwar Montasir, and I’m a designer, a developer, and a teacher at Treehouse. I’m excited to announce the launch of the newest version of our UX Techdegree!
When I started at Treehouse in October, one of my first tasks was to meet with my fellow UX Techdegree teachers, Hope Armstrong and Megan Amendola, for a Card Sorting exercise.
Hope and Megan had already done the critical work of analyzing student feedback and identifying pain points. What content did students respond positively to? Which courses needed improving?
The Card Sort allowed us to improve the delivery order of UX Techdegree content, and add brand-new courses built to meet the demands of industry employers. These new courses include “Designing Interactions” and “Introduction to Design Systems,” plus a heightened focus on Accessibility and designing B2B (Business To Business) applications.
The most dramatic change in the new UX Techdegree is the projects. To enable students to build a more relevant and competitive portfolio, we’ve replaced the nine disparate projects from the previous UX TechDegree with three case studies, consisting of three projects each:
- Improve an existing t-shirt website
- Research, design, and user test a grocery shopping app
- Design a B2B email marketing app
Students will emerge with not only a stronger portfolio, but also a deeper understanding of the design process and the ability to produce thoughtful work at all stages.
I hope you’re as excited as we are to experience the new changes to our UX Techdegree! We look forward to seeing you there.
