It’s a good time to be a fan of Apple. Between the new iPhones, Apple Pay, and the brand new Apple Watch, there’s plenty to get excited about. But what do all of these new devices and services mean for designers and developers?

After Apple’s announcements yesterday, I talked with Treehouse iOS teacher Amit Bijlani about what it all means for the development community. And we even unveiled details on Treehouse’s upcoming Swift courses, coming September 17!

Check out the video of our discussion below, and let us know what you thought about yesterday’s Apple event in the comments!

  1. I’m excited to install iOS 8 tomorrow, but I think I’m even more excited for the Swift courses. Treehouse has really increased my coding skills, but the one thing that still holds me back with iOS development is that I get hung up on the Objective-C syntax.

Tomorrow can’t get here fast enough! 🙂

  2. I can’t wait to develop apps for the iPhone and iWatch. For the longest time, I have always found coding desktop apps too daunting and with everything I learned in computer science class being cli-oriented, I went to web development more and more.

I hope that these courses will not only make me an iOS developer, but also help me learn to develop for the Mac.

  3. I’m usually not one for new devices but this was actually pretty neat! 🙂

  4. These new devices leave lots of new opportunities for developers AND designers. I’m wondering what kind of cool designs will get made when curved screens really start becoming prevalent.
