Getting Started with ASP.NET Core James Churchill (39 minutes)

ASP.NET Core (previously known as ASP.NET 5) is a new open-source ( and cross-platform framework for building modern web apps using .NET. It is a significant redesign of ASP.NET, built from the ground up to provide an optimized development framework for apps that are either deployed to the cloud or run on-premises. You can develop and run your ASP.NET Core apps cross-platform on Windows, Linux, and macOS.

In this workshop, we’ll answer the question “What is ASP.NET Core?”, explore the .NET CLI, and create a simple app–from the command line and using Visual Studio. Along the way, we’ll also take a look at some of the key new concepts and features that are part of ASP.NET Core.

Entity Framework Basics (December 2016)

In this course, you’ll learn how to use Microsoft’s Entity Framework to persist application data to a database. By the end of the course, you’ll have learned how to use the Code First workflow, create entity classes, write LINQ queries, perform CRUD operations, and more.

Introducing CoffeeScript (December 2016)

Get up and running with CoffeeScript, a programming language that compiles to JavaScript. Like Sass helps make CSS easier to write, maintain, and understand, CoffeeScript simplifies the syntax of JavaScript and makes it easier to write performant, idiomatic front-end code for websites. CoffeeScript achieves this by borrowing concepts from other popular back-end languages, like Ruby and Python, collecting the best idea from these languages and allowing us to use them in the browser.
