LearnCarsonified iPhones

Gill and I were brainstorming the other day and we were trying to think of a fun surprise that we could give to the Team. Then the answer just jumped up and smacked us in the jaw … iPhones (bam!)

So from now on, it’s standard procedure for every new Carsonite to get a brand spanking new iPhone (to go with their MacBook and 23″ Display). We also pay the basic tariff so the phone doesn’t cost them a dime (if they want more minutes, they can just pay the difference). I love the smile that comes over people’s faces when we hand them their new little technology gem.

We’re big on making work and life fun and hopefully this is a little step in that direction.

On a side note, we’ve been really enjoying Remember The Milk’s iPhone edition (Mel discovered RTM – good job Melski!). We use to to exchange to-dos at the office and it’s working brilliantly.

  1. Excellent – will they all be getting the new Apple ultra-portable next week?

  2. That is bloody awesome. You must have really happy staff 😀

btw, you need a teaboy or anything 😉

  4. You must be the best boss ever, ryan!

  5. Haha, I shall have to look into it then.

  6. @Matt Munsey – Easy, just hop on a plane and get your ass over here! 🙂 That’s what I did seven years ago.

  7. Damn Ryan, I would relocate to work for you. How does one go about moving to England anyway?

  8. Great idea, I’ll leave it on screen next time $boss is around 🙂

Does this count as some kind of benefit, and does that go on to effect what tax either you or the employee pays?

  9. The form at http://www.webappcharts.com/ 404s on submit; does that count as working for you? 😉

  10. @Simos You discovered me. Doh! 😉

  11. I reckon it’s another cunning plan by Ryan to break the morale of the rest of us.
That 4-day week trick did hit me hard first time round I have to admit and now he’s gone and done it again! 😉

  12. Nice. Very nice indeed.

  13. It’s a nice thing to do for your employees, for sure.

But do you really need to announce it to the world?

  14. Wow that’s really cool Ryan.

  18. Remember The Milk is the ish (in a good way). I’ve been using RTM as my work task manager for the past 6 months.

    On the work/life balance part…

For 2008, I made a new years resolution to focus on the whole work life balance thing and making sure to include personal tasks/goals in RTM which I then review with my wife weekly. Its only been a few weeks but now that my wife has visibility into my work and personal tasks/goals, she feels so much more involved and helps contribute to my success.

  19. As if Idea Week wasn’t reason enough to lust after a Carsonified job…

  20. Need a front end developer? 😉

  21. Very generous indeed!! I just got myself an iPhone Saturday – its the most incredible bit of kit ive ever got my hands on!

  22. So you’re going to extend this to your favorite vendors, right?

  23. Pretty insane Ryan – wouldn’t mind working for Carsonified! 🙂 Been following you guys since you rebranded and I’m extremely impressed with the rep that you’ve built up. Keep up the good work.
